The Soft Pack: Show Preview (Great Scott: 03.29.2010)

Artist Feature, Concert Previews, Contests, Features, Foundwaves Picks, MP3 Download, MP3 streaming — By Ava on March 29, 2010 5:42 pm

The Soft Pack, Nodzzz, Beaters, and Dj Carbo
Monday at Great Scott (Add to your Google Calendar)

With surging energy and a consistently upbeat sound, The Soft Pack’s music occupies a world where late-summer beach barbecues abound, but not without some punk flair and a bit of swagger. Upbeat guitars and minimal but hooky drums (delivered by a drummer who performs standing up, no less) give the band their distinct garage-rock sound. Partnered with nonchalant vocals delivering at times angst-y, at times quite playful lyrics mixed in with oohs and aaahs, The Soft Pack’s sound makes for feel-good music that isn’t always about feeling good. Stream and download “Answer to Yourself” for free, and check them out tonight at Great Scott.

Vinyl Giveaway!
Win a vinyl LP from the band by leaving a comment on this post. It’s simple – you comment, we pick a lucky person to get something cool. Good luck!

The Soft Pack is one of those bands that grabs you on your first listen…which is what happened to me. Now I’m addicted to the sparse sound; vocals are freaking amazing. Also, their lyrics fly in the face of their upbeat sound – they can tackle serious shit.
